MEMORY'S PIER

I wish I had someone to say this about
She came and took away my pain
And placed it on a boat
It was gray and overcast
When she set it off to float

Across the sea, to the edge
Of the known world
She made it someone else's problem
To the depths she hurled

All the hurt, all the fear
She made my gray sky clear
Though she's gone away
I'll remember her today
Sitting on memory's pier

Gazing at the sea full of fish
Bloated blue with woes
No need to cry for her
I'll just dip my toes

In the surf, little crabs
Tangle, snip, and snap
I can feel her heart beat
As I lay in her lap
