For now, this section will be my randomized Leaf Green nuzlocke attempt. The
rules are pretty simple. For the randomizer:
- changed trade evolutions and removed early game Sonic Boom & Dragon Rage
- totally random starter, trades, and legendaries
- random trainers (including names), no legendaries allowed, the rival
carries his starter forever, and Pokemon are fully evolved by level 40
- random wild encounters with area mapping, catch 'em all mode
- shuffle field items, running shoes indoors, national dex, and lower case
names
As for the nuzlocke rules I will abide by (don't be mean to be, I'm a
retard):
- If a Pokemon faints, it's permaboxed
- Can only catch the first encounter in an area, if it faints or runs, too
bad
- Dupes clause means I can ignore a species I've already captured
- All my Pokemon must be nicknamed
My first run didn't go so well. I named myself Wyrm and the rival was Retardo.
The starter choices were Slugma, Nidoran (female), and Anorith. I mistakenly
chose Slugma because he's my actual number one favorite Pokemon, but at level
5 he only knows Yawn and Smog, making him dead meat. So the first run already
ended! Oh, also, I initially randomized abilities but realized it would be a
little too chaotic for me.
Since I really messed up, this time I named myself Retardo and my rival as
Wyrm. It's only fitting... as for starters? I got incredibly lucky. The choices
were Ralts, Mawile, and Magneton, and that's no choice. Magneton has absurdly
high stats for his level, especially Special Attack, and with that Metal Voice
move that harshly lower Sp.Def, Thundershock is crazy! I named him Levingstone
because he is like a levitating stone.
The route 1 first encounter was Misdreavus, a high favorite of mine which made
me happy. I named him Willoughby because it sounded fancy, like Levingstone.
Psywave is... not ideal but it's okay for now. I later leveled up and got
Astonish which is quite nice, especially when it causes flinching. Route 1 was
haunted, consisting of nothing but Dusclops and Misdreavus (lots of easy exp
there too). Route 22's encounter was Dustox but I ran out of Pokeballs trying
to get it. The route also had Shellder and Flygon.
Route 2's encounter was a Ponyta which I caught and named Percheron, for the
really big draft horse. I once knew a percheron and got to pet and brush him
and feed him apples. His name was Tony. Anyway, Percheron sucked for a long
time with just Quick Attack. Luckily everything was high exp around me so
training him up wasn't too bad except for a close call when I tried to fight
Flygon and he had Sand Tomb. Then Viridian Forest's encounter was a Polygon
which wouldn't stay in a ball and I didn't want to waste more so I knocked it
out.
I found a Rawst Berry in Viridian City, and a Full Restore, Max Ether, and
Ultra Ball in the Viridian Forest. Pewter City's hidden item, next to the
museum, was a Silk Scarf, which made training Percheron with his Quick Attack
a bit smoother. Before challenging Brock, I made sure to go back to Route 22
and fight my rival, Wyrm. Ralts was a snooze with Astonish and Staryu was all
washed up because of Levingstone's Thundershock.
Reminder: gyms aren't type themed unfortunately. There's no setting for type
themes in gyms and non-types for regular trainers. Brock (or should I say,
Scarlett O'Hara) started with a Quagsire which was scary since it's Ground type
I think, meaning no easy electricity with Levingstone. Instead I smacked him
around with Astonish. Next up was Regice which is STUPID because I specifically
remember telling the randomizer not to allow legendaries. It was a tank but
thankfully my level 14 Percheron learned Ember and even burned the bastard. I
got my badge and picked up running shoes before calling it a day.
Also, I was thinking about it and my party sounds a lot like a law firm. Think
about it: Levingstone, Willoughby & Percheron, esquires, attorneys at law.
