| *NOTE: I played Rosewood in high school jazz band and it's my 2nd favorite jazz tune (and album) just behind Thad Jones & Mel Lewis' first Solid State orchestra. There's a live version you can find on Youtube that was presumably broadcast on Italian television and its superb. Woody's band is cut down to a combo, just rhythm, himself on horn, and a trombone so it's very different but you actually get to see it. There's something magical about the song and I wish he were still alive today. |
